Pochettino happy with Caicedo after recent impressive performances

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino expressed his delight in new signing Moises Caicedo’s recent performances against Fulham and former club Brighton.

The 21 year-old played a key role in both games as Chelsea progressed in the Carabao Cup and secured a first away win of the season.

After a shaky debut against West Ham, Caicedo has settled into life at Stamford Bridge after signing from Brighton in the summer for a staggering fee of €116M.

Pochettino has relied on Caicedo to perform after Chelsea’s tricky start to the season and the Ecuadorian has not let his boss down.

“Of course it is about time, because it is a player that you already know can perform in the Premier League. But after no pre-season and the situation he was involved with in the last few months, it is normal that he needs time to settle.

“Even if you are happy and everything is perfect, it is always difficult to settle. Now it is like he is in pre-season. We are happy because I think he was really good against Fulham. He needs to keep the momentum.

“Unlucky a bit now because he needs to go on the international break for international duty to play and to travel, I know this is difficult to go to South America. It does not help the situation, but we need to accept and to try and help him in different ways for him to perform again when he comes back.”
