Ruben Amorim admits he feels sorry for the Manchester United supporters after his side’s 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest but says he is not surprised by the result.
United had equalised through Rasmus Hojlund after going 1-0 down early on through Nikola Milenkovic’s header but goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood gave Forest victory despite Bruno Fernandes pulling one back for United.
Defeat means it is back-to-back losses for new boss Amorim having lost 2-0 to Arsenal in midweek, but he vowed things will improve under his management.
“It’s not a surprise, because we came in in the middle of a lot of games, but we already knew that,” Amorim told Sky Sports.
“Anyone who has a little experience in football will understand that.
“These moments are really disappointing for the fans. It’s really hard to see these kind of games after so many times with the disappointment.
“But we are here to do the job and we will continue in the same way, doing the same things, and we are going to improve the team.”
United’s weakness at defending corners was again exposed for Forest’s opener, having also twice conceded from corner kicks against Arsenal and Amorim says it is an issue which must be addressed.
“It’s not individual, it’s all the team,” he said.
“Of course we suffer three goals in two games from set pieces and a lot of problems from set pieces. We have to improve in every area of the game.”
