Arsenal deal for defender ‘essentially done’ and Guardiola admits Ederson could leave Man City – latest transfer news

Arsenal’s deal to bring defender Riccardo Calafiori to the club is now “essentially done” according to the Athletic.

David Ornstein reports that the 22-year-old is just waiting to do his medical and sign the contract before he officially becomes an Arsenal player.

He is then expected to link up with Arsenal on their pre-season tour of the USA.

Meanwhile, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that goalkeeper Ederson could leave the club this summer.

The Brazilian is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia and speaking after his side’s pre-season defeat to Celtic, Guardiola said: “I don’t know – he has to see maybe now other options.

“Of course I’d like him to stay. Depends now the clubs. I don’t know the situation. No contact in the last days. A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes and we see what happens.”

The City boss did, however, insist Kevin De Bruyne would not be leaving the club this summer, ahead of the game with Celtic.

PSG are interested in signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to Sky Sports.

They say there has been no official contact from the French club but that they have explored the options for a possible deal, with United wanting £40m for the 24-year-old.

Sky Sports also say Chelsea are progressing in their talks to sign goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal and that there is optimism that a deal can be agreed for the 22-year-old.

But it looks as though Trevoh Chalobah will leave the club this summer after he was left out of Enzo Maresca’s pre-season training squad.

“It’s always sad to leave a player out… but I’m here to take decisions,” Maresca said.

Elsewhere, Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier is expected to leave the club this summer, claim the Northern Echo.

Fulham are expected to go back in with an improved offer for Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe.

And Fabrizio Romano says Leicester City have opened talks with Arsenal for Reiss Nelson.
