Arsenal deal for £42m rated youngster stalls but Gunners closing in on another signing – transfer latest

Arsenal’s deal to sign Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori has stalled because the Gunners and Bologna are still apart in their valuation of the youngster, according to reports.

The Evening Standard say Bologna want at least £42m for the 22-year-old but reports in Italy claim Arsenal are more than £8m short of that figure as it stands.

And The Times say Calafiori’s move to Arsenal could be in doubt due to the Gunners struggling to move Jakub Kiwior on too.

Calafiori is set to join up with his current club for pre-season training next week but is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are, however, close to completing the signing of Ajax’s young goalkeeper Tommy Setford, according to Sky Sports, who say all parties are confident of getting the deal over the line for the 18-year-old.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that the deal will be worth €1m + add-ons.

Meanwhile, the Sun claim that Brentford are ready to slash their asking price for England striker Ivan Toney because of a “lack of interest” in the 28-year-old, who has just a year remaining on his current contract.

Manchester United are set to complete their second summer signing with transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming defender Leny Yoro has signed his contract with the club and that the deal has been completed, with United and Lille exchanging all documents today.

And Sky Sports say Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is expected to complete his move to Aston Villa by the weekend.
