Live updates from HaytersTV reporter James St Denis at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal host Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
“I’ve been a pundit. It’s easy. It’s easy in hindsight.
“If I go and attack the game, press really high and we concede two goals early, everyone says what’s he doing? That’s the reality of my job. The reality of my job is that if you lose games you’ll be criticised and if you win you’re a genius. It’s normally somewhere in between that.”
“Pedro and Reece had small knocks and they were just in too much pain for tonight. They’re giving everything. They would always put their hand up to play.
“Reece is an incredible captain and leader and Pedro is an outstanding professional and a great player.
“Cole gave us an incredible 90 minute performance and was the reason we fought back against West Ham. He’s a gem. We have to take care of him and make sure he’s right for the whole season.”
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior: “We’ve had a lot to contend with the last couple of days. A couple of fitness tests this morning. Normally I name the team the day before, I named the team this afternoon when I had the full details of who was available.
“I have to give the players so much credit. Our schedule has been incredible so for them to put in the energy, the fight, and the spirit was there, but unfortunately for us we didn’t quite have the quality moments.”
“I think the crowd was brilliant today. They brought so much energy and belief to the team in different moments and it was very much needed.
“I think we all deserve to be together at Wembley in a few weeks’ time.
“The energy was very good from the beginning, I sensed it was different and yeah, they are on board.
“To have these moments together is just magical. You can see the joy, the smile and the energy in the dressing room and in everybody that works at the club.”
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta: “It was a long match. We expected that. We wrapped it up at the end in a beautiful way with Kai scoring the goal in the manner he did with the crowd reaction. It was just magical.”
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah speaking to Sky Sports: “I thought the boys did well, stuck to the game plan, we were pushing until the end. Obviously it didn’t go our way but we have to keep our heads up and don’t let it affect us, and carry on our good form.”
Declan Rice speaking to ITV: “We have a group who really want it. Whatever team comes at us, we’re ready for it. When you play a team like Chelsea they throw so many things at you physically and mentally.
“You’ve got to have that resilience to stay strong and keep going.
“We deserve it. The last three or four years we’ve been at the top of the Premier League competing and got really close but haven’t been good enough.
“That’s why this season we have that extra desire and fire in our bellies to go one step further in every competition. There’s a long way to go but to be a cup final with this club is amazing.”
Full time at the Emirates and Arsenal are the first team through to the Carabao Cup Final!
