Arsenal youngster could be set for loan move after impressing in pre-season friendly

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein could go out on loan this summer.

The 22-year-old started Arsenal’s opening game of their pre-season tour in the USA against Bournemouth and impressed in the absence of David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale.

Arteta says he is pleased to see the Estonian shot stopper get an opportunity in the first team and revealed he and the club are considering a loan move for Hein to allow him to develop.

“That’s the conversation that we are having at the moment,” he said.

“Obviously, David (Raya) and Aaron (Ramsdale) are away at the moment and we are really really short in the position, but we want to develop our players, especially a player like Karl with a big potential and a big future ahead of him.

“He needs to play games, so we’re going to explore that option as well.

“Very happy for him. Obviously he had to be very patient and wait for his opportunity.

“He came back from the holidays really sharp, really prepared, he knew that he had big games ahead of him, and he started tonight and I think he had a really good performance.”
