Arsenal’s returning star ready to FIRE Gunners to Premier League title

Jurrien Timber is hopeful his return to full fitness will give Mikel Arteta and Arsenal the extra push they need to topple Manchester City.

The versatile Dutch defender was sidelined for nearly the whole of the last campaign having sustained a serious knee injury in the club’s first Premier League game.

Timber returned at the end of the season and his comeback was greeted with great excitement and anticipation.

“It was a big blow,” he said when asked about his debut season with the club.

“The start was huge but I try to look at it in a positive way. I came back well and I feel good anyway.

“It’s a year later, time goes quick. I’m enjoying my time here and I’m excited to start again.”

Despite his wretched luck, Timber insists he was still in a very fortunate position to have signed for Arsenal and is keen to repay the show of faith from manager Mikel Arteta.

“Obviously it was a big blow,” Timber continued.

“Especially being at the start but at the same time I just moved to another club, to Arsenal, and you have to look at how lucky you are as well.

“I’ve had time to work with some fantastic physios, great people around me, team mates were great too. It’s never fun to be injured but I try and make the best out of it.

“He [Arteta] was very supportive, from the start. Last year when we were here he was very supportive already and during my injury as well. It helps to have such a manager like him.”
