Aston Villa star suffers injury blow

Unai Emery says goalkeeper Emi Martinez was withdrawn at half-time of Aston Villa’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace with a calf injury.

Marco Bizot replaced the Argentine and kept a clean sheet in the second half as Villa were unable to find a way through the Palace defence.

Asked for an update on Martinez, Emery said: “He has a small injury. A small injury. I am not a doctor, but it is in his calf.

“He played fantastic in the first half, and then Marco Bizot also played fantastic in the second half.

“Now we will check him with the doctor and hopefully in a few days or weeks he will come back ready to play.”
