Live updates from Villa Park as Aston Villa host Manchester City.
That’s all from us. Thanks for following.
Pep Guardiola remained upbeat despite his Man City side losing their third game of the Premier League season.
Watch his reaction in full here…
Emery continued: “We have to get the level as high as possible in everything.
“There is still work to do.”
“We have try to close (the gap). Arsenal have been solid for many years.
“I’m concerned with how we can improve as a team and to be close. From my experience it’s (the season) so long. This my experience.
“There are many teams there. Bournemouth are doing really well and the other ones, and we’ll try to do our game.
“I was worried before the international break when we were 14th in the table.
“Listen, our job is not to look at the table. If they win all their games and win the Premier League, congratulations.
“But I have the feeling that the team is alive, the team is good. I don’t know how many teams can play here and play the way that we played with the courage, the possession and the chances and concede less expected goals and these kinds of things.
“We have to do little details better but I don’t live in October and November thinking what is going to happen in we don’t win the Premier League. It’s game by game.”
“I’m not going to tell you because we didn’t come back, it’s bad. The spirit in the second half was really, really good. They defended well and we could not break them.”
“This is a tough, tough place.
“It’s a really good team. I admire them and they do many good things.”
Emery continued: “We have to get the level as high as possible in everything.
“There is still work to do.”
“In general I don’t have many complaints. Little details but in general it’s good.
“We were there, we were close.”
“We started the season pretty poor,” said Emery. “We were not feeling good, not feeling confidence for different reasons.
“Through the quality of the players we can feel better, feel confidence and win matches like today.”
The whistle goes and Villa hold on for a massive result, as they continue to climb the Premier League table.
Disappointment for City who probably didn’t deserve to lose. They now slip further behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.
Martinez claims a Haaland header, to huge applause from the home support.
Just second remaining now.
City get forward but Villa manage to clear a cross and block the following shot.
Nunes then chooses to shoot from the edge of the box with his weaker foot, which goes high and wide.
Six minutes of injury time have been added.
City have been getting closer and closer but they will soon be out of time.
Worryingly for City, Haaland flew into the post as he finished the chance.
After a minute he has returned to his feet and will continue.
Haaland has the ball in the net but the flag goes straight up for offside.
Marmoush made his move to early before he cut the ball across for the Norwegian.
Emery also makes his last substitutions of the match.
Watkins and Digne are replaced by Malen and Maatsen.
Guardiola make his final change of the afternoon.
Marmoush replaces Savinho.
A great move from O’Reilly and Doku sees the ball cut back to Foden.
He strikes at goal but Onana uses his head to make a vital block.
Villa’s Kamara trips Doku to stop him from getting past him.
He is now shown a yellow card.
Foden pulls down Guessand as he attempts to stop the Villa winger breaking forward.
He is the latest player booked.
Guardiola sends on Cherki in place of Reijnders.
City are still searching for an equaliser and they will hope the Frenchman can help unlock the Villa defence.
Watkins is played through but Donnarumma rushes out fast to deny him.
The Italian gets the ball and prevents the danger.
Emery makes some changes of his own, as Guessand and Barkley come on.
McGinn and Sancho, who was a substitute himself in the first half, are the players withdrawn.
After good work from Doku, Foden picks out Haaland with a cross.
It floats to the Norwegian and he cannot generate enough power to get it past Martinez.
Sancho gets in after some woeful defending from Nunes but is denied twice by Donnarumma.
City have been creating more since their changes but Villa still carry a threat going the other way.
