They will have to overturn a one-goal deficit in the second leg.

Solanke goes off injured on his return

More bad news for Spurs. On his return to action, Solanke has had to go off injured and is replaced by Dane Scarlett.

He jumped for the ball with the goalkeeper and took a heavy fall afterwards.

Spurs will be hoping it’s nothing serious but the forward is hobbling towards the bench down on the touchline in front of me.

Three minutes added on

Three minutes of added time left for Spurs to find a leveller.

Solanke is currently down receiving treatment after a challenge by the goalkeeper though.

Triple substitution from AZ Alkmaar

The home side have responded to Spurs’ triple change by making one of their own.

Poku is replaced by Belic, Parrott goes off in place of van Duijn and Buurmeester comes off for Sadiq.

78'
Spurs lacking creativity

Spurs are moving it from side to side but have had absolutely no penetration through an organised AZ Alkmaar. It’s looking unlikely they will find a way back into the game at this rate.

71'
Triple substitution for Spurs

Postecoglou has made a triple substitution in an attempt to change things.

Solanke makes his return from injury with Porro and Sarr the other players to come on.

Son, Maddison and Udogie are all replaced.

Poku into the book

Poku has been booked for a foul out on Spurs’ right-hand side and Maddison has a chance to whip one in but it comes to nothing.

66'
Substitute Kasius is subbed off

Another injury blow for AZ with the substitute Kasius, who came on for Lahdo after he was injured, now having to go off himself. Smit is on in his place.

63'
Penetra's effort deflects wide

An ambitious effort for the AZ defender from distance. His low strike deflects wide of the goal.

62'
Bentancur is booked

Bentancur goes into the book for a foul on Parrott. His Spurs team-mates are having to calm him down afterwards with the midfielder not at all happy with the decision.

Poku shoots over

Spurs give it away at the back, not for the first time this game, which presents Poku with the chance to have a go from distance but he shoots over.

Tottenham have been really sloppy today.

BIG STOP from Vicario

The ball breaks for Poku in the area but his low shot at goal is palmed away by the Spurs keeper.

Both sets of players back out on the pitch

Both teams have re-entered the field with play set to resume shortly.

Odobert looks set to come on

Wilson Odobert is being put through his paces at half-time and looks set to come on.

45'
HALF-TIME: AZ Alkmaar 1 Spurs 0

Spurs trail at the break after Lucas Bergvall’s own goal.

The main story is how flat Spurs have been however. They are lacking energy and have created very little. Alkmaar have been the much more dangerous side.

43'
AZ again go close to a second!

A goalmouth scramble ensues following the corner with the home side being denied what must have been four or five times as Spurs eventually manage to clear.
