Arsenal defender Ben White admits he is in awe of the work rate of team-mates Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

White has largely played at right-back for Arsenal since his move to the club from Brighton, behind right winger Saka, and says the energy of both the England star and Martinelli on the opposite flank is a key part of the team’s success.

“The amount of defending he (Saka) does for me, it’s crazy. He never leaves me one on one, which is obviously a massive help for me,” he told Amazon Prime Video Sport.

“You see their stats after the game and they are mad. I wouldn’t be able to do it, they’re incredible. The speed of them, how much they can do it.

“I’m so glad I’m with them.”

White, who is now in his fourth year at Arsenal, also highlighted the defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba in helping the team to progress.

He said: “They’ve been unbelievable. I’m not sure I’ve seen two better together.

“Saliba is absolutely incredible. Nothing that I could say is a weakness or something he needs to work on. The way he’s playing, and he’s still so young.

“In training, you obviously see glimpses of how good he is but in a game, it’s a completely different level. Nothing goes past him anymore, no one even tries because they know there’s no point.

“Saliba has taken a lot of the praise but Gabriel, he’s been unbelievable and the threat that he has in the box is scary.”
