Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva says his side are in a “dark place” at the moment after being hammered 4-1 by Sporting CP in the Champions League.
The defeat was City’s third on the spin in all competitions, having been beaten by Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday as well as Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
Pep Guardiola’s team were dominant in the first half against Sporting, leading 1-0, but conceded twice right at the start of the second half before going on to lose 4-1.
“We’re in a bit of a dark place right now, and everything looks to be going in the wrong way,” Silva told TNT Sports after the game.
“Even when we play well we don’t score our chances, and we concede too easily. So definitely we need to look inside to check what we’re not doing well and get better very quickly otherwise it will be difficult to come back from these losses.”
City boss Guardiola, meanwhile, says he is more determined than ever to get City back in form.
“I love it, I want to face it, and lift the players… I am not giving up, maybe people are waiting [for me to give up], but I am not giving up!”
