Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed the club have held talks with free agent midfielder Sam Morsy.
The 34-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Bristol City and has emerged as a target for Blackburn.
Mowbray revealed he has spoken directly with Morsy and says there is a possibility of the experienced midfielder joining Rovers.
“I’ll always be honest with you. Sam Morsy is somebody I’ve spoken to, had a chat with,” Mowbray said.
“He’s a very confident boy, he’s got real belief in his ability. At 34, I think he’s got real confidence in his physicality.
“I think the religion that he is, he never touches alcohol, never eats a proper diet, and he’s telling me he feels like a late 20s, 30-year-old, really strong and powerful.”
“I think there’s a potential for that to happen.”
Mowbray was speaking after watching his side progress to the Carabao Cup second round with a 2-1 win over League One Burton Albion.
