Blackpool agree signing of defender and keen on striker return

Blackpool have agreed a deal to sign defender Josh Earl from fellow League One club Barnsley, the Bloomfield Bulletin reports.

Earl, who previously played for Fleetwood Town and Preston North End, is now set to complete a permanent move to the Seasiders, with the deal expected to be confirmed before the weekend barring any late complications.

Blackpool are also interested in bringing former striker Jerry Yates back to the club.

The 29-year-old was a key figure in the Seasiders’ promotion to the Championship in 2021, scoring 20 league goals during the campaign.

Yates has been told he can leave Luton before the transfer window closes if an agreement can be reached with interested clubs.

Blackpool have held discussions over a potential return for the striker and are keen to bring him back to Bloomfield Road.
