Live updates from the AMEX Stadium as Brighton take on Chelsea.
Liam Rosenior has not held back in criticising his Chelsea players.
“Unacceptable in every aspect of the game. Unacceptable attitude.
“I keep coming out and defending the players, that’s indefensible, that performance tonight with the manner of the goals we conceded, the amount of duels that we lost, the lack of intensity of the team.
“Something needs to change drastically.
“We need to look in the mirror, I need to look in the mirror. I can’t keep coming out here defending some of the thing we’re seeing.
“Manchester United, the result wasn’t there but I felt that we turned a corner. But the general attitude, spirit, was lacking.
“Determination, maybe three or four out of the 11. That’s nowhere near enough for this club. Nowhere near enough.
“I can’t come out and lie, that was an unacceptable performance in every area.”
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler: “Our approach will always stay the same. It is about the performance and the group. We want to be known as a club with a clear style of play but also to be known as a club with clear ambitions. We are working hard to fulfill them.
“We are able to manage the games better, we are able to play more consistent football. Not always we can win but it is always our intention to go out on the pitch and make the fans proud.”
Brighton defender Ferdi Kadıoğlu “The last weeks we’ve been in a good flow after a tough period.
“We didn’t let them breathe.”
There goes the final whistle!
Chelsea will be happy to hear it, they’ve been absolutely bossed by a brilliant Brighton side tonight.
Five league defeats in a row without scoring for Chelsea.
Substitute Danny Welbeck caps off a superb night for Brighton and a miserable one for Chelsea.
De Cuyper plays it across to the striker who finishes brilliantly first time.
Welbeck and Ayari come on for Rutter and Mitoma.
Brighton’s clearance breaks for Guiu but his powerful shot deflects wide for a corner. Chelsea are pushing for one back and have looked better in the last ten minutes.
Minteh is replaced by De Cuyper.
A good break from Chelsea as Garnacho drives forward but he shoots wide of the bottom corner from just outside the box.
Essugo and Guiu replace Lavia and Delap.
Another Kadioglu effort and another Sanchez save.
This time the left-back tries his luck from distance but the Chelsea goalkeeper flies across his goal to tip it away.
Kadioglu goes close to his second and Brighton’s third!
Mitoma plays him in down the left and shoots low but Sanchez gets down well to save.
Almost a spectacular goal from Mitoma. He tees himself up before firing wide of the top corner.
A swift break and Chelsea are undone once again. Not strong enough defensively as Chalobah is barged off the ball. The move ends with Rutter sliding in Hinshelwood who finishes past Sanchez.
Screams from the home support as the ball hits Cucurella on the upper part of his arm. Referee waves away the penalty appeals.
Neat play inside the Chelsea boss ends with Mitoma dragging his shot wide. Good chance!
Second half underway at the Amex. The biggest 45 minutes of Rosenior’s tenure. Chelsea cannot possibly play any worse.
The Blues boss has introduced Garnacho at the break.
Kadioglu’s goal the difference. Big half-time team talk in store for Rosenior.
A sustained period of Chelsea pressure is brought to a shuddering halt as Sanchez fails to kickstart another Blues attack and instead fires his kick straight into the home dugout, to the delight of the home supporters.
A measure of how far Chelsea have fallen in recent weeks they’ve now topped 400 minutes without scoring in the Premier League. They are yet to register a single shot in the first half here.
For all Brighton’s early dominance, they only lead 1-0 and Chelsea seem to have finally settled down and the hosts’ attacks aren’t quite having the same effect.
Unsurprisingly, Marc Cucurella is not getting a good reception from the fans of his former club. Loud boos every time he touches the ball.
The Chelsea boss knows he can ill-afford another poor result this evening and he is keen to ensure his players are listening to instructions. Lavia the latest to get an earful.
Brighton relentless in this opening quarter. Minteh flies forward yet again and Chelsea scramble it behind for a corner. Big problems for Rosenior right now.
How have Brighton not scored there?
Sanchez plays an awful pass to gift Brighton a chance but with the goal gaping, Hinshelwood fails to find the back of the net as Chalobah gets back to clear.
