Enzo Maresca was full of praise for his side’s defending today, saying Burnley “did not have one important chance in the second half” and was delighted with the way his team handled a “tricky” game.
It was far from a vintage performance from Chelsea, but they got the job done and a 2-0 away win in the Premier League is never to be sniffed at. Importantly, Caicedo was able to rest for the whole day ahead of a big upcoming week for the Blues.
Burnley started great but they failed to find the breakthrough and never quite did enough to score. It was still a good performance against strong opposition, but on another day the Clarets would have got something from that game.

The defender is out on the pitch warming up ahead of the second half.
Burnley will certainly feel hard done by the half-time scoreline. The Clarets were terrific up until the opening goal, and Parker will certainly feel that his side could be leading this game.
Chelsea have not been amazing but they have the lead and that is the most important thing. Their confidence seemed to grow after they found the opener and Maresca will hope to see his side add to their lead after the break.
After a turnover in possession, Chelsea tear forward again.
Pedro carries the ball forward before sliding it to Delap. Neto is again waiting at the back post but the Englishman gets his cross wrong and it’s collected by Dubravka.
