Calafiori left out of Bologna training camp squad as Arsenal close in on signing

Riccardo Calafiori has been left out of Bologna’s pre-season training camp squad with Arsenal closing in on a deal for the defender.

The Italian side are heading to a training camp in South Tyrol, in the north-east of Italy, but Calafiori has not been named among the players who are travelling.

And the Gunners look set to secure the signing of the 22-year-old in a deal reportedly worth around £40m, with reports in Italy claiming the deal could be finalised this week.

Calafiori could then link up with his new team-mates during their pre-season tour of the USA.

His arrival would follow the permanent signing of David Raya following his loan spell at the club from Brentford last season, and the addition of fellow goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax.

Calafiori played 37 times in all competitions for Bologna last season, helping the club qualify for the Champions League before being called up to the Italy squad at Euro 2024.
