Chelsea confirm addition of Barco from sister club Strasbourg – and continue to work on another signing

Chelsea have announced the signing of midfielder Valentin Barco from sister club RC Strasbourg.

The Argentinian has signed a contract at the club until 2033 and will join up with his new team-mates later on in pre-season.

Barco started his career at Boca Juniors before earning a move to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old then had loan spells at Sevilla and RC Strasbourg before joining the latter on a permanent basis.

He was part of the Argentina squad which reached the final of the World Cup this summer.

Chelsea are also continuing to work on finalising a deal for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarría.
