Chelsea defender Colwill ‘like a different person’ says former team-mate Dunk

Brighton and England defender Lewis Dunk says former team-mate Levi Colwill is “like a different person” compared with when the two first met.

Colwill made his senior England debut in the 1-0 win over Australia, starting at left-back in a back four which also featured Dunk.

The Chelsea man spent last season on loan at Brighton, and Dunk says he has seen the 20-year-old grow up since then.

“He’s a top person, and I’ve seen him grow up last year,” Dunk said.

“I tried to help him as much as I can, and he’s grown massively. Coming to the (England) camps now, he’s like a different person.

“He’s taken on the responsibility at Chelsea and he’s put on a great performance. I’m sure that won’t be his last England appearance.

“Left-back, centre-back, he’s got it covered. He’s very versatile and he’s proved again that he can do it at left-back.”

Dunk impressed again for the Three Lions as England kept a clean sheet against Australia, and the 31-year-old says he is keen to keep showing what he can do.

“It’s what every player wants to do, play for your country, and I’m getting the chance to do that now,” he added.

“While I’m at my club I’ve got to show the manager what I can do, and I’ve got to do that here as well.”
