Chelsea eye Joao Felix return after striker move collapses, Gallagher deal in doubt – latest transfer news

Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid has been thrown into doubt after Chelsea’s deal for striker Samu Omorodion collapsed, Sky Sports say.

The Blues had agreed £34.5m fee for Omorodion but the move has fallen through after the two parties failed to agree on a contract.

Gallagher, meanwhile, has long been expected to move in the opposite direction for £36m on a five-year contract but Omorodion’s failed move has cast doubt on Gallagher’s transfer.

The midfielder has already completed his medical ahead of the move.

Sky Sports are reporting that both clubs are now working on a deal for Joao Felix to return to Chelsea, which would allow Gallagher’s move to go through.

Felix spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Stamford Bridge, where he scored four goals in 16 Premier League games.

And Fabrizio Romano says outgoings are expected at Chelsea before the window shuts, with Raheem Sterling set to be allowed to leave if Felix arrives, while Noni Madueke is of interest to Newcastle.

Atletico Madrid have also agreed an £82m deal for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez but Sky Sports say Manchester City still expect the deal to go through.

Chelsea forward Armando Broja, meanwhile, is open to a move to Stuttgart, who want to sign the striker, also according to Sky Sports.

Elsewhere, Mathjis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have been pictured arriving in the UK to undergo their medicals with Manchester United ahead of signing for the club.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that work is ongoing to resolve the issues holding up a deal to take Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham from Manchester United.

Liverpool have added former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot to their list of transfer targets this summer, according to The Mirror, as they continue to discuss a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

The Daily Mail say Newcastle are set to make a third bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi having seen two offers already rejected.

And Arsenal have agreed a deal to sell defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy to Genoa, according to the Evening Standard.
