Enzo Maresca says Pedro Neto could return to the Chelsea squad against his former club Wolves on Saturday.

The winger missed the 2-2 Champions League draw with Qarabag on Wednesday because of an injury.

But Maresca says has trained ahead of the clash with Wolves, with a view to potentially being involved.

“He had a session yesterday with the physio outside in the pitch, it was good, and today he will travel with us and then we’ll take the final decision,” he said.

But Maresca looks set to be without Romeo Lavia, who suffered another injury blow against Qarabag.

“We don’t have an update at the moment, so we need to wait still some hours to do all the checks that he needs, but for sure at the moment he’s injured,” Maresca said.

“It’s painful, so we need to do all the checks and then we’ll see.”

Asked about the midfielder’s inability to stay fit, the Chelsea boss continued: “It’s a shame. It’s a shame in this moment also because we are trying to minimise minutes for him. But even with that, he’s injured again.

“We need to find the right solution for him.”
