Live updates from Stamford Bridge as Chelsea take on Barcelona in the Champions League.
Maresca speaking to Amazon Prime is asked where tonight’s win ranks in his time at Chelsea: “It’s a good win. We knew how important this game was but they are all important games. It’s always big to beat Barcelona.”
On Estevao’s performance: “18 and from Brazil against Barcelona, it’s a huge night for him and for all the club and for the fans.”
“I came here for nights like this. We worked so hard.
“It was a team effort and everyone stuck to the game plan.
On Estevao: “He’s incredible when he’s got the ball at his feet.”
Cucurella on Estevao: “He’s a special talent. He always stays happy and plays with a smile.
“He’s adapted really well. We have good people in the dressing room and hopefully we can help him.”
Cucurella speaking to Amazon Prime: “I think we deserved it with our attitude and our high pressing.
On stopping Yamal and Barcelona from scoring: “It’s not just about me, my team-mates help me a lot.
“It’s amazing. We are really happy.”
Estevao speaking to Amazon Prime after the game says his goal was probably the most special moment in his young career.
Wow. Where to even start. Firstly, what a game. Before the Barcelona red card, it was back and forth and punch for punch.
Chelsea were still the better team then, but it was a brilliant contest between two of the best teams in world football.
But this second half has been a mismatch. Enzo Maresca has had a fantastic night tonight. Enzo Fernandez has been breathtakingly good, Estevao has been magic. Barcelona have been shocked.
Next for Chelsea, the small matter of Arsenal in the Premier League.
This performance from Enzo Fernandez has been one of the greatest individual performances I’ve been lucky enough to see live.
He’s been exceptional. I think often Chelsea fans have wanted the Fernandez they saw for Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.
Tonight was that, but to a new level.
Barcelona have been blown away and taught a lesson here. Chelsea started better but things went to a different level after the red card.
A sobering day for Hansi Flick.
Another Chelsea goal, another one almost ruled out for Fernandez being offside.
He wasn’t this time though. Chelsea work it well through Barcelona and Fernandez squares it across the box for Delap to tap it into the net from very close range.
What a performance this has been!
Neto runs practically the whole length of the pitch after a Chelsea corner, and into the Barcelona box.
He bares down on goal and from a tough angle tries to get it past Garcia but fails.
I was lucky enough to be in New Jersey when Chelsea blew PSG away to win the Club World Cup, and I think this performance is the second best under Maresca’s reign, only behind that.
They have similarly blown Barcelona away. So impressive.
Delap comes on for Garnacho.
Goal for Estevao! And what a special solo effort.
He weaved in and out and left Balde and Cubarsi who were trying to contain him with no chance, before lashing past Garcia and into the roof of the net.
It’s happened again!
Chelsea score but it’s offside. Garnacho played a one-two before putting in a cross that Santos managed to convert, but the Argentinian was rightly ruled offside.
We’re back underway here.
Chelsea will feel they can get another whilst Barcelona have a long way back and are down to 10.
What a brilliant half of football that was. A half fitting of the occasion.
We had two goals ruled out, a goal given, a red card, and a bucket-load of chances.
Chelsea have been well on top.
Red card for Ronald Araujo! What a terrible challenge from the Barca captain on Marc Cucurella.
Already on a yellow, he lunged into the Spaniard and got nowhere near the ball. A horrible sending off for Flick and his side.
Concern for Chelsea as Malo Gusto goes down after a challenge on Lewandowski.
He looks in some pain but will continue.
It’s been such a fast-paced half an hour, it seems as though Barcelona are now just trying to settle into the game.
De Jong is seeing more of the ball.
Chelsea score again and it seemed it would be ruled out again, but this time it counts!
Another corner, and Cucurella received the ball on the edge of the box. He drilled it into the middle and Neto got a touch, before the ball bundled in off Kounde for an own goal.
Estevao plays Neto clean through and the Portuguese bares down on goal. He sets to shoot, and skies it over.
A truly poor attempt.
Another goal ruled out for Chelsea, and it’s the same man.
Estevao takes a free kick from the left and Enzo Fernandez got a touch at the back post, but again it’a ruled out for offside.
We all know of Fernandez’ quality, but this pass he has just played through the whole Barcelona team is simply outrageous.
He dropped deep into the Chelsea backline to receive the ball, and in an instant launched an almost inch perfect pass over the top to Malo Gusto. The Frenchman just missed out on getting there.
Unintentional it may have been, but in clearing a dangerous ball, Rob Sanchez has taken out Fermin Lopez.
Game rightly stopped as it looks a head injury.
Reece James has had a poor start to the game. He’s already made one huge mistake and given away a few other loose balls.
