Chelsea 1-3 Brighton LIVE – reaction after Blues are beaten at home

Maresca laments his side’s “game changing mistakes” and says they must improve, having also lost at Manchester United last week following a red card.

Enzo Maresca says his Chelsea side were completely in control of the game but that the red card “changed the plan”.

This season is quickly spiralling into disaster for Chelsea. They have one win in their last five and red cards in back-to-back Premier League games.

They have injuries and suspensions in defence, problems in goal and Enzo Maresca is not helping himself with strange substitutions.

Brighton throughly deserved the win and after Chalobah was sent off it seemed there would only ever be one winner.

Brighton work a corner, Minteh to Ayari, who whips it in to the box. Wieffer connects with it and heads it on to De Cuyper in the middle of the box, who easily dispatches.

Well Chelsea have to retain some composure here. Josh Acheampong, who has just come on, decides to try and take on five players in his own half and loses it, almost resulting in a Brighton goal but for a Reece James recovery.

Well that was strange. Yasin Ayari was in the perfect position just outside the box to rifle home a shot, and was blocked… by the referee.

It was of course unintentional, but both the Brighton fans and players are furious.

Chelsea have been by far the more dangerous team and have come close on two or three occasions already.

This goal had been coming. Maresca will be hoping his side can keep this up
