Chelsea 4-3 Brighton LIVE – Chelsea win despite Brighton fightback

Chelsea survive a late scare from Brighton. Goals from Lavia, Neto, Pedro and Palmer secure the points.

GroB heads home Brighton’s third.

Goals for each of Neto, Palmer and Pedro today and an assist for Rogers. They look frightening going forward.

Just 10 minutes after he came on, Moises Caicedo is back off the pitch. He is replaced by Barco, but worrying for the Ecuadorian.

A wonderful curling effort from the edge of the area flies into the net.

A Rogers strike hits the defender in the face, he has gotten back up now, but looked like a painful one.

Lewis Dunk takes out Joao Pedro in behind the defence. Just a yellow as Vuskovic would have been across to cover.

GroB hits a shot that comes off Joao Pedro and finds the back of the net, game on.

Rogers and Palmer work the ball nicely in the Brighton box. Palmer is able to get a shot away, but Brighton swarm the shot and get the ball clear.

Diego Gomez tries his luck with a volley from outside the box, the effort is very wide though.

Emi Martinez finds Joao Pedro with a long ball forward. The Brazilian then drives into the box but his shot is blocked.

A wonderful cross from Wieffer finds Gomez unmarked in the, but his header goes over the bar.

Lewis Dunk clears a Chelsea cross straight to Morgan Rogers who puts the ball onto his left foot before firing just wide from the edge of the area.

Yalcouye gets one back for Brighton.

Emi Martinez made the initial save from Kostoulas, before the debutant fired home the rebound.

Brighton have their first real chance of the game.

Wieffer crosses in and it’s met by Yalcouye, but Martinez saves the tame effort.

Joao Pedro has to score that.

Neto does very well to create space in the box before rolling the ball to the striker. Pedro takes a touch and has the goal gaping for him, but he shoots well wide from eight yards out.

Brighton have had four corners so far, and Emi Martinez has been key in Chelsea getting them clear each time.

The Argentine has looked like a breath of fresh air for Chelsea on his debut.

An excellent goal

The early Chelsea goal has not dampened Brighton’s ambitions here.

They have continued to push forward; their most recent attack saw De Cuyper nearly find GroB in the centre.

A scrappy goal from a corner, but Chelsea won’t care. Joao Pedro’s flick on hits Wieffer, but falls nicely to Lavia to prod home from two yards out.
