Chelsea 3-0 Wolves LIVE – Reaction after Blues secure big home win

A desperately needed win for Chelsea that takes them to second in the league, even if just temporarily.

It wasn’t easy, especially in the first half. Chelsea started well but Wolves were resolute.

But in the second half everything changed. Malo Gusto scored in the 51st minute and from then it seemed Wolves knew they were beat. They could offer no response as Joao Pedro and then Pedro Neto added to the damage and made it 3-0.

Cucurella has just offered a gift to Wolves. In the Wolves half, he heads back, and inadvertently sets Marshall Munetsi away.

Munetsi was in the clear and aimed a shot, but dragged it way wide.

Chelsea do well to work it near the Wolves box, and Estevao manages a shot which Johnstone saves.

The rebound falls to Guiu, who cannot convert from point-blank range.

The scoreline makes it seem comfortable, and the second half has been, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Chelsea toiled and toiled in the first half, and it seemed it could have been a frustrating day.

And that confirms the three points for Chelsea. Fernandez sets Garnacho away in Chelsea’s half, and the Argentine displays blistering pace to ease past Santiago Bueno and go all the way into the Wolves box.

He feeds Neto, who has the simplest of finishes.

No sooner than he is brought onto the pitch, Estevao creates a goal for Chelsea!

He received it on the right and delivered into the box. The ball took a deflection and fell to Joao Pedro who rifles home from close range.

And Estevao is on. And predictably, that brings about the biggest roar of the night from fans.

Krejci has just stopped a certain goal. Fernandez was wriggling in the box and played a ball across. Delap was in the middle of the goal and looked certain to put it away but Krejci intercepted.

Is it too early to call Estevao the man that fans are paying to see? I’m sure many do feel that way.

He is being readied to come on.

Well that will ease the nerves of Chelsea fans. Wolves haven’t offered much going forward and you would expect Chelsea to hold on from here.

Garnacho holds the ball well on the left and creates some space for a cross, which is delivered perfectly to Gusto at the back post.

The Frenchman heads comfortably in

Disappointing half for Chelsea. They started very well and created a lot, but have petered out as the game has gone on.

Wolves have contained them, and James Collins will be pleased with what he has seen

Chelsea work it well from back to front and Garnacho plays it on the left to Fernandez outside the box who has a shot blocked. The ball falls to Joao Pedro in space but he can’t get it on target.

Should do a lot better there

Chelsea may be frustrated at the lack of a breakthrough but one man who can be proud of his performance is Enzo Fernandez.

He has been absolutely imperious. Every pass is dangerous, he is at the centre of everything, and he looks full of confidence

There’s only so long in a game that you can play well and not score. At some point Wolves will get into this.

This time it’s from a corner. Fernandez took it and it almost went in.

Johnstone was scrambling

The Blues have been applying pressure from the start and string together another wonderful move here.

Fernandez plays a beautiful pass from midfield into Garnacho on the left. The Argentine fizzes it into the box and Joao Pedro tries to get on the end of it but it is too high for him

Another chance for Chelsea as Marc Cucurella shoots from outside the box. Fernandez tried to divert it in with his head but well wide in the end

The ball gets clipped over the Wolves defence and into the path of Garnacho in the box. He’s one on one with the keeper but cannot convert.

Wolves kick us off here at Stamford Bridge

If Chelsea pick up three points today, they will move up to second in the league.

And given Wolves haven’t won a game all season, this game represents a great chance to do exactly that
