De Bruyne and Doku ‘feel really good’ and Haaland also close to return, Guardiola says

Manchester City duo Kevin de Bruyne and Jeremy Doku could return to action for Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend as they host Championship side Huddersfield in the FA Cup.

The Belgium internationals have been sidelined with injury, with Doku absent since early December and De Bruyne missing since the opening game of the season.

Erling Haaland could also feature having missed out in recent weeks with a foot injury, but Guardiola is aware he needs to be cautious ahead of his return.

“Jeremy feels really, really good and Kevin as well. And Erling is also a little bit better, have to be careful with the bone”, said the City boss.

“Kevin has been out a long time. We have to be patient and give the right minutes for him and Jeremy.

“But in the two or three training sessions they feel good and are improving. I don’t know about Sunday or Newcastle but for the rest they will be ready.”

Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips is could be set for a move away after a frustrating period in the blue half of Manchester.

His last two 90 minute stints on the pitch came in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, with Premier League minutes being hard to come by.

A whole host of Premier League sides have been linked with the England midfielder who will be keen to have more game-time on his season’s CV with the European Championships on the horizon.

“I do not know. What is going to happen is going to happen”, said Guardiola.

“I am not going to anticipate anything because I do not know the desire of the players, some of them I know and others I do not know.”

“Right now he has a fever, we have a few with (with a fever)”
