Derby dealt another injury worry in Carabao Cup defeat

Derby County boss John Eustace confirmed that Matt Clarke was forced off in their Carabao Cup defeat to Lincoln City with an injury.

Eustace’s side were knocked out of the competition with a 2-1 defeat and had their misery compounded by another injury worry as Clarke was forced off at the break.

“He’s picked up an issue and he had it the other night,” Eustace said on Clarke. “We thought he would be okay today but he’s struggling.”

Reflecting on the defeat, the Derby manager said: “There were some positives about getting some important minutes into three or four of the lads’ legs who needed it.

“The most important thing is that we didn’t earn the right to win the game today and that’s something we have to take away from it.”
