England 3-0 Costa Rica LIVE – Rice, Gordon and Watkins on target ahead of World Cup

“We did very well. We deserved to win and should have scored more goals.

“The attitude and intensity was very high level.

“We wanted to push to the next level and we clearly got it.

“It makes my mind very calm because we’re absolutely in the right way.”

Anthony Gordon following tonight’s win: “I was buzzing H [Harry Kane] was off. I was looking around to find him. When he was off I wanted to take it. I love penalties and I love the pressure of it. Glad to see that one go in.”

There were more chances in injury time for Eze, Rogers and Mainoo, but there was no fourth goal.

It is a very strong display to round off England’s Florida camp, and they will travel to Kansas full of confidence.

There is the third goal and it comes for Watkins!

Rashford does well with some great feet but after his attempt is saved, it is recycled to Rogers. He strikes from outside the area, again forcing a save, but this time Watkins is there to head home the rebound.

England are still searching for a third here as the game approaches its close.

There have been some nice monents from Saka, Rogers, Watkins and others but the third goal eludes them.

Costa Rica are caught out by a quick free-kick and Rogers is clean through on goal.

It is a huge opportunity but he fails to find the target.

Tuchel withdraws the rest of his players that started – Konsa, O’Reilly, Anderson, Gordon and Bellingham.

Burn, Quansah, Mainoo, Rashford and Watkins are all on.

With Kane off the field, it is Gordon who steps up and converts the penalty.

That makes it a goal and an assist for the winger who has certainly impressed this afternoon.

O’Reilly finds Bellingham who dances through the Costa Rica defence with incredible feet.

He plays it to Eze who fires wide, but the referee pulls it back for a penalty.

Pickford, Rice, Madueke, James, Stones and Kane make way.

Henderson, Eze, Saka Spence, Guehi and Rogers are on.

England continue to dominate and have been far superior than the scoreline suggests.

Bellingham strikes at goal but the goalkeeper gets down well to make the stop.

Madueke receives the ball out on the right-hand side and cuts inside.

He finds space to shoot with his left-foot, but he bends it just wide.

That is half-time now and it has been 45 minutes full of positives for Tuchel.

We are into injury time at the end of the first half, but England have a penalty here.

Tempers are continuing to rise here, as fouls fly in and both sides show some aggression.

A yellow card is shown to somebody on the Costa Rica bench, as the referee hopes to calm things down here.

One thing England certainly do not want today is any injuries.

Anderson is down after a head collision but he will be fine to continue.

Bellingham plays Madueke clean through on goal. The Arsenal winger does brilliantly to roll the ball around the on-rushing goalkeeper.

However, with an empty goal to aim at, he somehow hits the post and the score remains the same.

Gordon wins a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the area.

It is a tight angle, but Rice steps up and shoots. An ambitious effort from the midfielder who has already scored here today, and sails off target.

Pickford is almost caught out straight after the restart.

The England goalkeeper is caught in possession, but his defenders help to scramble it behind for a corner.

That has been a fantastic start from Tuchel’s side and exactly what he would’ve wanted after an underwhelming display on Saturday.

The England midfield has been working really well together, and this time it is Anderson who gets forward.

His cross comes out to Madueke on the edge. He strikes the bouncing ball at goal but the goalkeeper makes the save.
