Reece James spoke to Hayters TV after the game about his England return and how it is the best he’s felt in a “long time”.

Reece James: “Reece played midfield but very very rarely (with me) at Chelsea. If you play a dominant match like today he can be a hybrid midfielder where he comes into midfield from the left or right full-back position and helps with the overload.”

Thoughts on the full camp: “Very happy. The players reminded me instantly why I was excited about the job. We had some excellent days on the pitch but also off the pitch.”

Not the most exciting of games but England get the job done comfortably.

Latvia made it difficult for them in the first half, sitting deep and blocking everything thrown their way before Reece James’ superb free-kick gave the Three Lions the lead before the break.

Harry Kane then scored his 71st England goal with a simple tap-in from Declan Rice’s pass before substitute Ebere Eze added a third.

Two wins from two under Tuchel so far.

Harry Kane shoots from a tight angle but the goalkeeper gets his gloves to it and palms it away.

Three minutes of added time left to play.

A good chance for an England fourth as Guehi gets his head on Eze’s cross but can’t direct it on target.

Rogers gets the ball out on the right before cutting in and unleashing a strong shot at goal which is tipped over.

Tuchel makes his final three changes. Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker replace Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Morgan Rogers wants to get in on the act but can’t find the bottom corner, bending just wide with an effort from the edge of the area.

England have a third!

Lovely ball from Foden out to Eze on the left who drives into the area and shows great feet to cut inside before firing in via a deflection.

Kane gets his goal as usual!

A nice run from Rice who receives the ball on the right and cuts it across goal for Kane to tap in at the back post and make it 2-0.

Jude Bellingham makes way for Phil Foden.

A big chance for Harry Kane. Lewis-Skelly pops the ball into Bellingham who turns and finds Kane but the striker’s low effort whistles just past the post.

Jurkovskis is replaced by Daskevics and Sits comes on for striker Gutkovsis.

Ebere Eze has come on for England in place of Jarrod Bowen.

It looks like Bowen has moved out to the left and Rashford to the right at the start of this second half. An interesting tweak from Tuchel.

A change for Latvia as Jagodinskis replaces Savalnieks.

Latvia get us back underway.

Both teams are back out on the pitch with the second-half about to get underway.

A disappointing half overall but a moment of magic from Reece James has England ahead.

He found the net with superb bending free-kick to send Tuchel’s team in at the break with the lead.

England have struggled to produce good deliveries, passes and attempts in the final third though.

Bowen beats his man down the right and cuts a low ball back across goal for Rogers but Zviedris palms the Villa man’s strike away.

And that’s half-time.
