Espirito Santo responds to West Ham fans’ chants in disappointing draw with Watford

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has urged the club’s supporters to remain behind the team after chants against him during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Watford.

The Hammers were unable to secure victory as their winless start to the league season continued, with frustration among the supporters evident.

“I understand. It’s true, the results are not coming, but we have to support ourselves, try to remain together,” he told TalkSport.

“The support of the fans are essential for us to play better, for the boys to show all the talent that they have on the pitch.

“Once again, I ask them to keep supporting and helping us.”

When asked whether he felt under pressure following the chants, he acknowledged the demands that come with managing West Ham but said the focus remained on improving results.

“We have pressure every day at West Ham. We are a huge club,” he said.

“Even the players that joined us realised that we have to perform better and the fans have to be happy. We only achieve that with wins.

“This is what we are chasing.”
