Live updates from the Hill Dickinson Stadium as Everton host Manchester United.
Reaction from the Man Utd boss: “There was a lot of good things in the game for us. We played some really good football, were dangerous at times. For the most part we defended well as a team. The longer the game went on there were a few more balls into the box and a few decisions we made it more difficult for us when we should’ve seen it out really. We’re disappointed we didn’t come away with a win.”
“It’s amazing, everybody wants to start off like that and thankfully I did. It fell to me on the edge of the box, I put my foot through it and it went into the top corner which I’m happy about!”
The full-time whistle goes and that spectacular finish from Maitland-Niles is enough to earn Everton a point.
A draw is probably a fair result on reflection of the game. Nevertheless, given the manner in which it came, United will be devastated. Everton, meanwhile, are absolutely delighted.
