Former Arsenal midfielder backs striker to join club this summer and says Gunners should sell trio

Former Arsenal, Chelsea and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has backed striker Benjamin Sesko to join the Gunners this summer over rival clubs.

Sesko, who scored 14 goals in 31 Bundesliga games last season, is reportedly attracting interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea among others.

The 21-year-old is rumoured to have a £55m release clause in his RB Leipzig contract, and Petit, who spent three seasons at Arsenal and won a Premier League and FA Cup with the club, says Sesko should move to the north London club if given the choice.

“Definitely Arsenal. Why? Because of the way they’ve been playing and the way the spine of the team has been playing together for the last four or five years,” Petit told bestonlinepokersites.ltd, when asked about who Sesko’s next club should be.

“They have improved so much individually and collectively. They have a proper philosophy of playing and a better environment as well.

“So while it’s a new era at Chelsea, the stability is with the Gunners. So if I was Sesko I would join Arsenal rather than Chelsea.”

This summer could also see several departures from Arsenal, and Petit believes the club should cash in on the trio of Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.

On Vieira, Petit said: “He has quality, but not for the Premier League. For me, probably I think it’s too hard for him. He’s not Fabregas. Remember Fabregas when he had the same problem, but he had that himself. He plays quicker, he was very intelligent with his head. But, I don’t see that with Vieira.”

“Smith-Rowe is a very hard one because I like him. I know what he can bring on the pitch, but I’m thinking what’s going on with him physically? I was not convinced this season. I think I would say sell. It’s a pity to say that, but I would say sell.

“Nketiah knew he was playing under such pressure. He knows that the club has been looking for a proper striker for years now, and he knows that Kai Havertz is not a proper striker, but he was playing and he was on the bench. So it’s not a surprise for him.”
