Four transfer deals that could happen in the next week

The transfer window is well underway with several big deals reportedly in the works ahead of the start of pre-season for most Premier League clubs. Here’s four of the biggest deals that could well happen in the near future…

James Maddison to Spurs

It has already been a busy summer at Spurs. The club moved to bring in Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent deal following his successful loan spell and are also set to sign goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.

And another name who could follow both through the door is Leicester City midfielder James Maddison. The 26-year-old enjoyed a fine season in a poor Leicester team last season and Tottenham are very keen to bolster their creative and attacking options by securing the signing of the England international.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, who recently joined the Hayters TV Podcast (below) reports that Spurs are in “advanced talks” with Leicester over Maddison and that there is “cautious optimism” a deal will be agreed between the two clubs.

Newcastle United are also keen on Maddison, but are set to sign midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan for a hefty fee reported to be in the region of £60m meaning their interest in Maddison has subdued.

Jurrien Timber to Arsenal

Sheth also recently told the Hayters TV Podcast that Arsenal could be the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer as they look to solidify their position as consistent title challengers. Along with Kai Havertz, who is widely expected to complete a £65m move across London from Chelsea, Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is also likely to join the Gunners.

Sheth says talks between the two clubs are “advanced” with an agreement on a final fee close, while personal terms are not expected to cause any issues.

Timber would bolster a defence which suffered because of injuries last season, with William Saliba’s back problem coinciding with a dip in form for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Gunners are also desperate to add Declan Rice to their list of incomings, but are not yet close on a deal having seen their offers so far rejected by West Ham and are also facing big competition from Manchester City.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan

Despite some massive changes at Chelsea during the past year which has seen new owners, many new players, and another new manager in Mauricio Pochettino arrive at the club, there looks to be no sign of it slowing down with several big-name players having already left or expected to depart.

N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly and Hakim Ziyech have either headed or are likely heading for Saudi Arabia, while Kai Havertz will sign for Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic for Man City. And another name expected to join that list is Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek, now 27, is set for AC Milan, with Chelsea having agreed a £15m deal according to the Guardian. The report also says Milan, who are set to lose midfielder Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, would like to sign Christian Pulisic from the Blues.

Midfielder Loftus-Cheek has been with Chelsea since his days in the youth academy, winning the Premier League with the club in 2017.

Josko Gvardiol to Man City

Fresh off their treble success, Man City are already looking to strengthen having seen a bid for Declan Rice rejected by West Ham and are also keen on signing defender Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old, who is primarily a central defender but can also play left-back, will likely cost City a world-record fee for a defender but, according to Fabrizio Romano, he has already agreed personal terms with City.

Negotiations over a deal could mean City are unable to tie up an agreement within the next week, but it’s very possible that he could soon be wearing the sky blue.
