14:35 Van Nistelrooy reflects on short time in charge

“It has been a special period [to take charge] and it was important to get through the four games as well as we could.

“We’ve done very well so far, the players reacted very well in the games. The focus is now to build on that and show that on Sunday with a big game ahead and a massive three points that are there to win.

“I don’t know if it will be emotional, I take it very pragmatic as well. I’m very proud to be able to fulfil this but we’ll see how it will feel on Sunday.

“Other than that, there’s not much more news from yesterday evening. Ruben and I are both focusing on our teams and our games.”

14:16 Man Utd team news update

Man Utd interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy is also speaking to the media this afternoon and has given a team news update…

“We had a lot of benefit from Christian [Eriksen] playing a good 30 minutes (against PAOK), for [Manuel] Ugarte and Mason [Mount] making his first minutes – that benefited us as well.

“I’m glad that they’re back and also, for a little bit longer in the future, it’s good that Luke and Leny [Yoro] are on the pitch.

“Amad was assessed, we’re still working on him to get him ready for Sunday. Hopefully it will work.

“Kobbie [Mainoo] is also progressing, he’s making the right steps but he’s not yet with the team, that needs a bit more time.”

14:13 Pep says he has not learned anything new about his players

“Not anything because I’ve known them for nine years, they’ve proved many times what they are capable of.”

13:45 Chelsea game a must win?

“Especially because we have missed certain points and the margins are becoming smaller and smaller. More perfection is demanded.”

13:44 Arteta on recent form

“When you don’t win it affects the mood and the energy. But the positive is that there is no one who wants to win more than I and the players do. I can sense it from the players.”

13:42 Rice's fitness?

Arteta says he does not know whether or not Rice will be fit for Chelsea. “He hasn’t trained yet and it’s not clear yet.”
