Iraola pays tribute to Howe ahead of Bournemouth's 125th anniversary

“I think it’s probably very fitting that Eddie (Howe) comes with Newcastle. He is a big part of the history of the club.

“125 years is a lot of years, a lot of history behind. Probably in England you don’t see that as special but for me from outside 125 years is a lot and I feel lucky to be part of that now in this special moment.

“It is special to be part of such a special moment.”

Fulham closing in on Andersen signing

Fulham boss Marco Silva says the club are very close to bring in Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen. “It’s very close. It’s difficult to be talking about it because it’s not official but it’s close. I think he’s a great signing and a player who is loved by this club.

“I’m hoping it will be official this afternoon. We will be delighted with the signing.”

Hear from Ange Postecoglou
Postecoglou on surprise Odobert signing

Postecoglou: “He was one we identified really early on. Wilson was on of the players we highlighted. Once Dom [Solanke] was done there was one target and that was Wilson.

“He’s different to our other wingers. He’s had a good develop, from PSG to Troyes and then Premier League football before 19.

“Delighted to get him in.”

Maresca press conference
Yves Bissouma return?

Postecoglou: “Biss is available, but we have options there. The whole idea of bulking up the squad was for these circumstances.

“He’s available for selection but the bridge building continues.”

Blow for Spurs

A big blow for Tottenham ahead of their game against Everton on Saturday with big money summer signing Dominic Solanke ruled out because of an ankle injury.

Maresca's warning

Strong stuff from Maresca who issues a warning to his Chelsea players: “If you think I’m going to give you a chance without working hard, forget about it.”

Maresca on whether Chelsea could sign a striker

“If we have the chance to bring in a striker that can help us and make the difference, then we are going to try.”

Maresca ahead of Wolves

Enzo Maresca says Joao Felix could be in line for his second debut against Wolves on Sunday after returning to the club. “In terms of physicality, I think he is ready because he was already playing games there [at Atletico Madrid]. He needs more time to understand the way we want to play but overall I think he can play.”

Could Raheem Sterling make a return to Man City?

Pep Guardiola on the Chelsea winger: “He is a Chelsea player. I feel so attached with him because of the time we had together and I feel like that with all my players. But he is a Chelsea player. If you had asked me about Gundogan previously, I would have said he was a Barcelona player.”

More signings for City?

“I don’t think so but I don’t know. The market might provide us something that is financially good for us but at the moment I do not know.”

Man City fitness update from Guardiola

“Savinho feels better. I don’t think he’s completely top but we will see today and tomorrow what we want to do with him.

“Rodri is getting better but he has not been with the group. Maybe he can take part in partial training today but I don’t think [he will be available]. We will see today.”

Could Gundogan play tomorrow?

Guardiola: “If tomorrow he has to play, OK, he knows everything.”

Guardiola on Gundogan

Pep Guardiola is speaking to the media right now following the return of Ilkay Gundogan to the club. “He has not come here to retire, or remember the good memories, now it’s time to get your shoes on, and play your best!”

MERINO IN, NKETIAH OUT?

Arteta was less forthcoming when pushed for an update on the imminent signing of Spain midfielder Mikel Merino and the possible transfer of Eddie Nketiah.

He added: “I cannot talk about any player that’s not with us. There’s still time in the market. Both ways. For all the managers, for all the teams here. You can see it’s getting very busy.

“I don’t know [about] soon. The full focus is on the players that we have at the moment, the big match we have at Aston Villa and that’s all.

“I expect Eddie to train with us today. To be prepared for tomorrow. That’s it. Whatever happens will happen if it’s good for everybody.”

Arteta to sign new contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has indicated he will sign a new contract next month – after the transfer window closes.

He said: “The focus has been on the transfer window. We had quite a lot of things to do and discuss. We are on it and we will take care of that in the right moment.”

Asked if that meant after the window closes, he smiled: ‘Yeah.’
