Welcome to the Hayters TV live blog! We’ll have updates throughout the day from today’s Premier League manager press conferences.
Enzo Maresca was asked about his criticism of Noni Madueke earlier. Read what he had to say here.
“We won 4-0 against Everton but I saw so many things that were wrong. I saw the same against Arsenal. We need time to think about things. We don’t have much time to train and have to prepare for the next opponent, but when I see the team, I think we’re improving in some aspects.”
Does Ruben Amorim know his best team?
“More or less, yes, we have an idea, but then we have players returning and we have to manage the load. Bruno Fernandes, you feel it against Arsenal he was tired in the end, but you know he will recover in the end. If you talk about Manuel [Ugarte], I’ve known him for a long time and he needs a little bit more time.”
Ruben Amorim confirms Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof remain out for Man Utd’s clash with Nottingham Forest. “Jonny is still not training. Victor has returned to training but isn’t available for tomorrow, maybe the next game.
Guardiola confirms John Stones and Mateo Kovacic also remain out with injury.
“Alisson is not ready but will be soon. Diogo Jota and Fedrico Chiesa are close. The others are a bit further behind.”
“If you make a mistake as a goalkeeper it’s difficult for someone else to cover it up for you. He’s always there to help us. We just unfortunately couldn’t be there to help him.
“He’s in a good place, although he’s disappointed like the others for dropping points from a winning situation.
“He can go into this game with a lot of confidence.”
Kevin De Bruyne is out of contract with Man City at the end of the season and Guardiola said: “I’m not involved in that” [discussions over his future at the club].
“The player, the impact legacy of the club will be forever, of course it’s not easy, as a club we have in the moment it’s going to happen, we have to find the best way.”
“It is going to be special for everyone. For all the fans, players and the managers involved. To be part of the game is already special but it being the last one at Goodison makes it even more special.”
Pep Guardiola says Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake will miss Man City’s clash with Crystal Palace.
Arteta is asked if he and his Arsenal side are trailblazers when it comes to set pieces: “There have been some exceptional teams in that field. We can still improve. Last year we were the team in the history of the club that scored the most goals.”
Arteta on Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover being called ‘annoying’ by Gary Neville: “We take it as a compliment.”
“In terms of points and how we want to play on and off the ball, I was convinced we’d reach that moment but not so early. We can do many things better in both situations – attacking and defending. We are ahead of my expectations.”
Mikel Arteta is asked about Dimitar Berbatov comparing Arsenal to Stoke. “I understood very well what Berbatov said. We take it as a big compliment because Stoke were so good at it.
Mikel Arteta is here for his press conference. He says it is “too early” to tell whether Gabriel or Riccardo Calafiori will be able to return for the game against Fulham.
“He is improving a lot in terms of understanding the position. This is what we need from the attacking players.”
Maresca says Tottenham are a “very good team.”
“I like to be close with the players. This is the way I like to have a relationship with the players.
“I want to take care of them.”
Has Madueke taken on Maresca’s criticism? “Yeah absolutely! Noni is working well overall but sometimes he drops a little bit. It’s not a lot. In terms of numbers, he’s doing fantastic.
“The only reason I said this is because I want the best for Noni. The only way to do this is to push him.”
“Many times we said that there are too many games.”
“I don’t think we are ready to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool and City.”
Maresca says Fofana and James are still “weeks away” from returning. Mudryk is also out of the game against Spurs.
Postecoglou also defended Tottenham’s summer recruitment and the decision to sign younger players. Read what he had to say here.
