‘Flat, slow, not good’ – Guardiola criticises Man City performance despite beating Salford

Pep Guardiola was left unhappy with his Manchester City team’s performance in their 2-0 FA Cup win over Salford City.

A first-half own goal from Alfie Dorrington followed by Marc Guehi’s first goal for the club were enough to secure their place in the fifth round.

But Guardiola says his side “didn’t read the spaces” well enough in attack and criticised the performance of his team.

“The only good news is that we are through, that’s all,” Guardiola said.

“Everything was flat, it was slow, and it was not good.

“It’s been tough. Since November, every three, four days. It’s a lot.

“I know they want it. It’s just we didn’t read what we should do and it sometimes happens.

“Maybe I didn’t transmit what we should do to be more fluid.”
