‘I know what people are looking forward to’ – Guardiola on Man City hearing beginning

Pep Guardiola says he is pleased that the hearing into Manchester City’s alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules is finally set to start.

City face 115 charges for allegedly breaking the financial rules of the competition they have won for a record-breaking four consecutive seasons.

An independent hearing into the charges is finally set to begin on Monday, with a verdict expected to be reached early next year. City could face severe punishment if found guilty, including relegation.

“I’m happy it’s starting on Monday,” Guardiola said.

“I know there will be more rumours about the sentences. We’re going to see. I know what people are looking forward to, what they expect, I know, what I read for many, many years.

“Everybody is innocent until guilt is proven. So we’ll see.

“It starts soon and then finished soon. An independent panel will decide and I am looking forward to the decision.”

Guardiola also insists he has not discussed the subject with his players: “I am not a lawyer. Erling is not a lawyer, no. There are many lawyers in this country and in Spain, but I will wait and see.”
