Pep Guardiola says he is “thrilled” for striker Omar Marmoush after his two goals helped Manchester City into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Marmoush’s double and a Savinho strike saw City come from behind to beat Newcastle 3-1 at St James’ Park.

“He’s a top striker, the finishing, especially his second goal, our third, is his biggest quality,” Guardiola said on Marmoush.

“He has to improve a little bit in small spaces and his first control but he made a fantastic game and he deserved it. So happy and thrilled for him.”

Guardiola also hailed his team’s performance as they reached yet another FA Cup quarter final.

“It’s the best game we have played against Newcastle here in our period together, ten years,” he said.

“Really, really pleased how we behaved, how we played defensively and offensively, the concentration.

“Eight times in a row in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, that shows how good this organisation is.”
