Viktor Gyokeres scored a stunning hat-trick to fire Sweden to the World Cup qualification play-off final to face Poland.

The Arsenal forward scored all three goals as Sweden beat Ukraine 3-1 in Valencia, Spain.

Sweden now have a one-off game to book their place at the World Cup this summer.

Gyokeres’ Arsenal team-mate Christian Norgaard also got on the scoresheet for his country, scoring for Denmark in their World Cup qualification play-off semi final against North Macedonia.

Denmark won 4-0 to set up a clash with Czechia for a place at the World Cup.

Riccardo Calafiori played the entirety of the game as Italy beat Northern Ireland 2-0. They will now face Bosnia and Herzegovina in their World Cup qualification play-off final.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Martinelli started for Brazil and played just over an hour in a 2-1 friendly defeat to France in the USA.

And Max Dowman played 88 minutes in England under-19s 2-0 defeat to Serbia.
