Harry Kane says the current England squad is as good as the country has ever had.

Kane scored twice as England ended their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win in Albania.

And the Bayern Munich striker says he is full of confidence in what this current group of players can achieve, ahead of next year’s World Cup.

“I think it’s as good as we’ve ever had when you look at the starting 11, the players coming off the bench,” he told ITV Sport.

“We’re going to go into the tournament as one of the favourites, you have to accept that. We’ve been like that now for the last few tournaments but that’s part and parcel of it.

“We’ve been building. We’ve had a great year together with a new coach and we look forward to a big 2026.”
