Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that Tino Livramento is set to miss around eight weeks with the knee injury he suffered against Arsenal.

Livramento was forced off in the defeat to the Gunners and is now set to miss around two months.

“He went to see a specialist a couple of days ago because the scan maybe looked better than we initially thought,” Howe said.

“The specialist confirmed it’s roughly an eight-week injury. A blow to lose him, but for what It could have been it is good news.”

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa’s recovery is set to take longer than first anticipated.

Howe says the striker is set to miss around another two weeks on top of the initial six-week diagnosis from when he was injured.

“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee,” Howe said.

“We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six (from the point of the injury). It’s no recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”
