England captain Harry Kane was forced off during Bayern Munich’s 5-2 Bundesliga win over Darmstadt due to injury.
The striker collided with the post having earlier scored his 31st league goal of the season in Bayern’s comfortable win and limped off the pitch to be replaced.
“He stumbled and fell in the net and twisted his ankle,” Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said after the game.
“He is cooling it now with ice. There is no diagnosis yet. We have to wait and see and hope it is just a scary moment.”
Kane’s injury will come not just as a concern for Bayern, who are looking to chase down Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga and face Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, but also for England.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions face Brazil and Belgium in friendlies later this month as they continue their preparations for Euro 2024.
The win means Bayern sit seven points behind Leverkusen, who travel to Freiburg on Sunday.
