Jesus “does not care” about Arsenal’s January striker links

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has admitted he is not fazed by other strikers being linked with a January move to Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta may turn to the January transfer market to bolster his attacking options, as Arsenal continue their trophy hunt in the Premier League and Champions League.

Jesus admitted he is used to being played as a second choice striker, after being behind Sergio Aguero whilst at Manchester City.

“When I was at (Manchester) City, it was Aguero and me scoring. Aguero was obviously the first one, and me after. Then I was not scoring a lot and people were linking to everyone.”, Jesus said.

“I do not care about this, I know my qualities and I know what I can bring to the team, I can score! I can also help with other things like opening space.

“The only people who can see it are the people watching the game and understand.”

Ivan Toney has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Brentford striker has been absent all season after breaching football gambling rules, but the English striker will be available for selection in the new year.

Jesus has scored five goals this season, four of which have come in four separate Champions League games. Jesus reiterated that he backs his own abilities.

“Let’s be honest, I do not miss a lot of chances I do not think it is about ‘he does not know how to score!”, said the Arsenal striker.

“Sometimes I have to be more in the box, that is the one thing I can work with, and tonight I was more in the box!
