Jurgen Klopp will wait to see the extent of Liverpool’s latest injury problem, as Trent Alexander-Arnold came off at half-time during their 3-1 win over Burnley.

The Liverpool star was substituted at half-time as Klopp’s mounting injury list continues to grow. Alexander-Arnold joins Thiago, Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch as players currently sidelined which could become an issue in their title aspirations.

However, Curtis Jones slotted into the right-back role superbly whilst Harvey Elliott, Trent’s replacement, excelled providing two assists to the delight of his boss.

“[Trent] He got his knee stuck in the grass and we will see. We have [to send for] assessment,” said Klopp.

“At half time we had to take Trent off and that’s a double problem if you want. One is that Trent is off and the other is we had no other right-backs available.

“So we told Curtis what he had to do, so we changed formation slightly and tried to make it as simple as possible for him, because it was first time in the life he has played the position [in the league].

“He did exceptionally well. Harvey came on and did really well. All the other boys did well.”

Liverpool now take on Brentford and Luton in the Premier League, before the first honour of the season is on the line in the Carabao Cup final. Southampton in the FA Cup and Nottingham Forest follow, before the visit of Manchester City to Anfield.

Alisson and Joe Gomez also missed the win, Klopp will hope that Trent isn’t a long-term problem with crucial games in league and cup coming thick and fast.
