Arne Slot says Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is a doubt for the weekend’s clash against Manchester City after suffering an injury in the Champions League win over Real Madrid.

Konate completed the 2-0 victory but was seen limping off the pitch at the end of the game.

Conor Bradley, meanwhile, was forced off during the game with what looked like a hamstring injury.

And providing an update on the duo ahead of the Premier League clash with title rivals Man City, Slot said: They are still being assessed so it is difficult to know where they are.

“Let’s wait and see but it’s never a good sign if players – Conor I had to take him off and Ibou didn’t walk off the pitch as he should after such a fantastic game. He should have made a round and clapped to the fans but unfortunately he couldn’t so that’s not a good sign.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold was an unused substitute against Madrid having suffered a hamstring injury before the international break but Slot says he is ready to start.

The Liverpool boss also says it is a credit to his side that injuries to key players are not impacting results.

“In general people only talk about injuries if the results are not there so it’s a good thing that nobody has talked about ours because it means we’ve got our results,” he said.

“The moment you start to lose it’s about kick-off times or it’s about injuries – we always come up with certain ideas why we didn’t win, especially me, but nine times out of 10 it’s about the quality of the opposition and their game plan.

“We do have some very important players injured but if the replacements do so well then it’s normal that people don’t talk about it much.

“Missing Alisson, missing Diogo Jota, missing Trent in the last two games – those are players that have had a lot of impact in recent years but it’s a good thing that we don’t talk about it.”
