Liverpool moved back into the top eight of the Champions League standings with just one game of the league stage remaining by beating Marseille 3-0.

Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a clever free-kick right before half-time, shooting under the wall to catch out goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli.

Liverpool very nearly found a second when Hugo Ekitike smashed an effort off the woodwork in the second half, but did double their advantage soon after, after some fantastic work from Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutchman showed a great burst of pace down the right-hand side before his cut-back deflected off Rulli and into the back of the net.

And substitute Cody Gakpo added a third late on, curling into the bottom corner after being played in by Ryan Gravenberch.

Arne Slot’s side take on Qarabag at home in their last league stage clash, with their hopes of automatic qualification to the round of 16 in their own hands.
