Liverpool Women have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Alice Bergstrom from Swedish team BK Hacken, in their first signing of the January window.

Bergstrom signs for an undisclosed fee and is a Sweden Under-23 international. She won the Swedish title with Hacken just over a month ago.

The 22-year-old was a vital cog in the side, scoring three goals and registering eight assists.

She told Liverpoolfc.com:“I’m really excited. I’ve been waiting a long time so it’s nice to be here.

“I’m really excited to get started and it’s going to be a good year.”

Bergstrom will wear the number 25 shirt and can play anywhere on the right side of the pitch.

She played in 25 of Hacken’s 26 league matches, and provides Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor with some much-needed quality.

Liverpool have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions and are dead bottom of the WSL table.

When the WSL resumes in just over a week, they face the London City Lionesses.
