Live updates as Manchester City host rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

Arne Slot was asked if his side have already lost too many games to win the title: “The last thing I should speak about now is the title race.
“We should first focus on getting results before we can even think about that and the reality is that we are seventh or eighth now.”

Guardiola on moving four points behind Arsenal: “It’s not the team that is in September or October at the top. You have to grow. To be better and better. Always when we won (the league) it has been like that.

It is another defeat for Liverpool, who look certain not to retain their title. The Reds were far off it and their heads went down far too easily.

O’Reilly slides the ball to Doku and he curls brilliantly into the far corner from the edge of the box. An awful long way back for Liverpool now.
Liverpool create their best chance of the game but it is wasted.
Bradley crosses to Gakpo but he blasts over the bar.
Slot turns to his bench and makes a double substitution.

Liverpool havw started this half better and Salah almost gets in behind.

The first half comes to and end with the hosts two goals up. City have been the better team and their lead is deserved.
Things could be even worse for Liverpool had Haaland scored his early penalty. Slot’s side are not out of this but they have created very little so far and big improvements are needed.
City have been well on top and now they have doubled the lead before the break.
Gonzalez strikes from range, his low effort is deflected by Van Dijk and it rolls into the net.
Silva brings down Wirtz and becomes the next man to be booked.
City’s captain will have to be careful from now on.
Van Dijk heads home from a corner to level the score but the flag goes straight up.
Robertson is offside and obstructs Donnarumma, the goal does not count.
