Live updates from the Etihad Stadium as City host United in the 197th Manchester derby.
“Erling has been incredible since the start but this season he is better than ever. I would say better than the Treble year. He’s dynamic and I don’t judge him for the clearance, we want him to score goals and to help us.”
“I’m not happier. I didn’t see one player in my team not giving the maximum. The rest is with me. The disappointment sometimes I feel we could run more, but I didn’t have that feeling today. It’s my fault, not their fault and I am fine with that.”
“You could feel it as well from the fans, we needed this. You always want to win the derby but you could feel it extra today. I’m so relieved, so happy we managed to do it altogether. We have to keep going. Today we’re super happy.”
“100% I had extra motivation going into the game, it was for him and his family and for the people suffering right now. The lads gave everything. It wasn’t a pretty match but it was all for him.”
A big win and a big performance for City, both of which were desperately needed.
It is disappointment for Amorim and United, although perhaps not a surprise.
Haaland and Silva are taken off after a succesful afternoon.
Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake will play the final minutes.
The visitors are continuing to push for a goal but to little avail.
Donnarumma has remained largely untroubled.
Sesko is taken off to jeers from the home support following an ineffective afternoon for him.
Joshua Zirkzee replaces him, with Manuel Ugarte also making way for Casemiro.
Guardiola feels comfortable enough to start resting some of his players ahead of a busy period.
Rodri is replaced by Nico Gonzalez and Doku makes way for Savinho.
Haaland temporarily turns into the creator as he slots Reijnders in behind the United defence.
The Dutchman’s effort goes just wide though.
The City supporters bring out their ‘Poznan’ celebration which travels around the ground.
They are clearly confident of the result now.
It’s Haaland again and City should have put the game to bed here.
United give the ball away cheaply and Bernardo Silva has a whole half of space to play the ball into for Haaland. Bearing down on goal all the way from the halfway line, the Norwegian never flinches and cooly slots home.
Amorim takes off Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro.
Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are sent on.
United’s best chance of the match so far falls to Mbeumo who volleys powerfully at goal.
However Donnarumma is equal to it, producing a fine save to tip it round the post.
United are starting to look like a deer in headlights and give up possession cheaply.
Haaland is put through again and manages to take it round Bayindir, but somehow he does not finish. His effort slowly rolls into the post before it is cleared and the Norwegian cannot believe he did not convert the chance.
City have a second goal, and of course it comes from Haaland.
Foden links up with Doku, who then slides a ball in behind for the Norwegian striker. Haaland does not hesitate and dinks over Bayindir with his first touch.
United have started the second period as the better of the two sides.
The visitors have enjoyed their best spell of the game so far, although theyvare yet to trouble Donnarumma’s goal.
Bryan Mbeumo takes the kick off for the visitors.
The second half is underway.
The teams are back out for the second half.
No changes from either manager so far.
After taking the lead in the first half, City led the derby at the Etihad last season up until the 88th minute. United then equalised before adding a winner in injury time.
Guardiola will desperately want to avoid a repeat, whilst Amorim will be hopeful that his side can do it again.

The referee’s whistle brings the first half to an end with City leading.
It’s a lead that is probably deserved, although neither side has created many clear cut chances.
City are starting to play some really nice football here. Nico O’Reilly just took their latest shot but he fired well over.
It is worth noting that United have not been playing badly here. Amorim will not be upset with their performance.
City have been massively boosted by the opening goal and are now attacking with much more freedom.
More good work from Doku results in a cut back to Reijnders but Bayindir produces a good stop to deny him.
City take the lead and it’s Foden who has the goal.
Jeremy Doku weaves through the United defence. After his first cross is blocked, his second finds Foden perfectly who duly heads home.
